The Gym Group was founded in 2008 by Jon Treharne, a former England Squash player. In just 14 years, it is now one of the largest gym chains in the UK, with over 221 locations nationwide. In 2022, The Gym Group decided it was time for a new look. Whilst the online side of the brand updated, one thing remained unfinished - their signage. They needed to quickly execute a plan to update the in-person branding across the UK. That’s where Blaze Signs came in.
Blaze Signs have delivered many projects across the UK, and with a reputation of excellence, they are a trusted signage services partner for many of the UK’s best-known brands. Blaze Signs and SignComp Europe have had a well-established relationship for over 25 years, with both companies focusing on innovation, quality, and expertise. SignComp offers materials of the highest industry standard to sign makers, and combined with Blaze Signs' reputation of excellence in signage design and installation, the partnership has only strengthened over the years.
Why Blaze Signs?
Blaze Signs are confident with short time frames when it comes to rollouts of new signage. They stand by and are known for their ‘professional and accredited team of installation engineers and assistants delivering our service with excellent levels of health and safety, customer service, and precision.’ It’s no surprise that they were the signage services partner of choice for The Gym Group.

Why Flex Face?
Flex Face signage has been used for thousands of rollouts, and often used for large and impactful outdoor sign applications such as retail parks and industrial estates. The primary feature is the flexible banner that stretches across the face of the sign, and often referred to as the ‘skin’.
It’s a popular solution for sign makers across the world, particularly the econoflex system. SignComp have developed a well-known reputation for the quality of the materials and profiles on offer, including the successful famous Black Clip tensioning method which requires no rods, no sewing, no eyelets, no clamps, and no springs. This unique and subtle difference compared to other Flex Systems leads to huge benefits. The system is highly resistant to all types of weather, lightweight in nature and easy-to-assemble. Not only do they look great, but are often economical, saving you time and money - and with not a single system failure, SignComp’s econoflex system is the most trusted system.
The Gym Group own many branches in retail parks and it was important for Blaze Signs to consider timing and scheduling. They wanted the new branding to quickly update on physical sites, to avoid confusion amongst customers with a mismatch of old and new brand looks. Blaze have a history of delivering large scale projects within slim time frames, and so The Gym Group awarded 110 sites out of 210 to them.
Their planning, design and production departments got to work, to ensure all dates and sites were completed on time and with consistent care. With Flex Face being one of the most popular types of signage for The Gym Group, SignComp were able assist with the installation by supplying the signage materials in the rollout - typically used for large and impactful outdoor sign applications. As a result, Blaze Signs were able to provide The Gym Group with premier flex face systems across various UK sites.

Summary:
The project was a huge success. There are always challenges when it comes to executing large scale rebrand rollouts but with no timing or scheduling delays, Blaze Signs showed why they exceed their reputation in the signage industry. SignComp operate as a specialist signage material supplier and are proud to have been able to provide high quality products to assist Blaze Signs in the seamless brand rollout.
